Rodeo 2024

Freedom's annual rodeo, held the third weekend of August, has been drawing fans and contestants from all across the nation for over 87 years. This three-day celebration includes every major event in the sport of rodeo ranging from barrel racing to wild bull riding. This beloved rodeo event combines professional action with hometown color and style. A dance is held nightly following the rodeo and features some of the best country musicians around to ensure a foot stompin' good time. On Saturday, guests are invited to the Old Cowhand Reunion at 11am and then to partake in a free chuck wagon style dinner at noon. The Old West setting of Freedom's Main Street provides the perfect backdrop to all of the rodeo activities.

Always held the third weekend in August, the Freedom Rodeo & Old Cowhand Reunion attracts visitors from all across the state and nation for weekend-long action and Western activities. Known as the "Biggest Open Rodeo in the West," the Freedom Rodeo features every traditional event rodeo fans have come to expect, from women's barrel racing to wild bull riding. Come and enjoy professional rodeo action combined with hometown color and style. 

Don't miss the Old Cowhand Reunion, held Saturday at noon, for beef and bean dinners served to the public. A tradition since 1939, the Old Cowhand Reunion began as a chuckwagon feed to honor the cowhands of the local ranching lands. Today, this chuckwagon serves thousands of visitors looking to celebrate the cowboy way of life. 

Come to the Freedom Rodeo & Old Cowhand Reunion to see which lucky contestant is crowned this year's Rodeo Queen, or enjoy a Western art and country crafts show in downtown. Enjoy the fantastic melodrama of the Great Freedom Bank Robbery & Shootout on Saturday afternoon and witness as a cast of merchants, ranchers, bankers and more recreate an Old West bank robbery on the streets of downtown Freedom, the "Queen City of the Cimarron.
